I was a big death metal fan and went to concerts all the time. I know that bothered some people.

Big Time Hypocrite
by Iamallcool inmy dad told me this story long time ago.
there was an long time elder that is never married.
he got caught going to brothel one day after a brother followed him there.

Rattigan you are sexist.
Out of that entire tale of a poor woman being screwed over so profoundly by the elder's gentleman's club, the one thing you extract is that women are all vindictive?
She has a right to be upset after being mistreated that way. Anyone would.

What is the biggest regret or source of resentment because of being a Jehovahs Witness?
by stuckinarut2 ini'm sure we could all write long paragraphs about this question, but in a few words, what is your biggest regret, or frustration in life due to being a witness?.
what missed opportunities did it cost you?

Speculation on why now?
by Crazyguy inin the last couple of years the org has gone money crazy, selling off over a billion dollars worth of property and now a new tithing program.

Do you mean the JW's justification for it, or the actual cause?

Holocaust bible prophecy?
by EndofMysteries inrussell taught and believed that the jews would be restored to israel.
the bible does say that and it did end up happening.
rutherford dropped that teaching about 5 years i think before it actually happened.

It's confirmation bias. Someone wrote something about the reestablishment of Israel and 2000 years later the Jews were given land for totally different reasons. This ignores all the other things the bible says that did not come true.
The same thing could happen if I made an outlandish claim, like for instance that Italy would rise again and reestablish the Roman Empire, and 2000 years from now Italy started conquering parts of Europe. I'd be made a prophet just because some ridiculous guess I made came true for unrelated reasons millenia later.

I would second Giordano's opinion. As hard as it may sound you probably should move on from him. Find some "worldly" friends who don't judge you. It's what I did and I'm a lot happier.
Even though your friend genuinely cares for you, his religion won't allow him to behave like he does. So cut them off.

They ignore it. Barely any witnesses read the bible on their own without the org's literature to give them their opinions. Those that do leave.
But you handled that conversation very well. When I went through the same conversations with my friends I didn't have nearly that much tact and it turned them against me very quickly. It's a shame because you can see glimmers of the real human being in his texts, the one that loves you, and then the cult persona totally swallows it up when you bring up doctrine. I saw the same in my friends. It's like they're different people when you start to challenge their beliefs.

I felt the same way attending the SAD. I didn't go to the memorial. The atmosphere was oppressive. No joy at all in that audience. I imagine the memorial would have felt the same way.

Not that I agree with them, but I could also see that question being asked simply for safety. They could be worried about a disease being communicated through the baptism pool water if an infected person uses it. As to why that is a question for baptism in the book and not a private one asked discretely is beyong me however.
